Larry, I just had an interesting thought. Maybe there's another approach to this whole question. On Page 26 I posted an image of Mt. Rushmore from one of the hiking paths, just to emphasize the clarity of the sculptures.

What I'm wondering is if we might find someone thoroughly versed in Mar's atmosphere who could predict, or even create a gif of, what Mt Rushmore would look like after 100,000 years (1,000,000)yrs, on Mars. I remember J.P Levasseur talked a lot about the constant bombardment and erosion that some of these things have been through. Do you think it would be possible to find someone capable of making that sort of analysis?

Most likely. But can anyone be said to be 'thoroughly versed' in Mars' atmosphere? Meteoroid damage as well as dust erosion and thermal cycling? CO2 freeze-thaw cycles vs H2O? Lots of room for 'Doh, why didn't I think of that?' before we can be there and watch things up close.

And as always, finding the money to hire her would be the real problem.

He talks about a stick figure alien near the center. But right above that, just slightly to the left of centerline and about a quarter of the way down from the top edge, is a near photographic fox or puppy face looking right at you. I say near photographic because it even seems to be blurred, like it is a little out of focus.

This is still not really compelling to me either. But ... hard to forget once you see it.

i have since revised the second part of the definition to exclude sounds and call that similar but different sense phenomena PARAUDOLIA.
