How about simplifying it to just the monkeys and a key?

Rich, I've highlighted the monkey heads in B&W, should been evident now. Yes you are right, my wife walked in and I had this up on my screen where she saw it for the first time....Monkey's she said....three of them! Another friend saw nothing untill I pointed to them....ahh yes he said, I see it now.
There is quite an inigma to this "visual awareness" and not sure what to make of it. The image infurs a structure for sure, it's even in the other viewpoint taken on a different flyby so it IS there.
Still what one person sees and what another does not, you are right in mentioning this but I sense it is not the straight forward answer you might be hoping for.

My intent is not to tell others what I think it is, but rather to present the issues, and examples, that I think go to the heart of what I think the questions are. I'm more interested in what others think, than what I think. So, please take this in the spirit it is intended.

I see stuff everywhere. I just happened to know what the mechanism is. By no means am I suggesting that you stop seeing stuff.
One time I showed my wife this quote from Jrich:

quote:
One gets the impression that those who favor the artificiality hypothesis of the land art do so in major part because they are unable to conceive of how their perceptions could be mistaken so often. I think this experiment demonstrates that it is possible to see what one hopes or expects to see, to do so many times, and with increasing proficiency in visual imagery where no artificial patterns actually exist. JR

To which she said: "They have a hard time believing it's pareidolia, but they do believe Martians are drawing pictures all over Mars! Which is harder to believe?"
