xterrester,

You probably replied to 123 I believe. Anyway, the Rover Brothers are doing great at the moment, despite some software problems of Spirit, but I don't expect any annoyance from Martians; however, Beagle 2 would probably dispute this. [:)]

This image caught my attention because of the unusual looking shadow area in the upper left corner.

I processed the image through the equalizer in Adobe photoshop and noticed two odd looking black areas within the dark shadowed area. The equalization process also revealed the faint outliines of possible structures around the edges of the shadowed area.

Enlarging and curve adjustment further revealed an area with structural looking shapes.

This area with structural shapes gives me the impression that an attempt was made to hide the shapes using the blur tool in photoshop.
The blur tool was used making the image composite of the Mars Rover and Gort posted two posts up in this thread. Note the blurry streaks in the sky which were made with the blur tool and the similarity they have to the marks over the building shapes.

Possibly the lines resembling the blur tool are censorship, part of the continuing legacy of the Brookings report, to keep knowledge of et life and UFOS from the public.

The Brookings Report should have been trash canned along time ago. I suspect the gap between what the public officially knows about and the reality of what is being kept secret from us is profound. The ultimate result of this secret keeping will be/is a vast underclass of uninformed, dumbed-down masses, living out of touch with basic realities of the universe, governed and controlled by a technologically advanced elite. I would prefer to know the truth.

Somehow life lived in an insulated dream world seems unsatisfying, robbed of fully participating in the adventure and challenge of discovering the unknown, the intellectual excitement of new vistas and realities. The human experience becomes diminished. We stagnate in that dream world.

If there is life on Mars it makes it seem much more likely that the universe may hold endless, new, life-filled worlds to discover. Confirmation of intelligent ET life might generate enough excitement and inspiration to refocus humanities collective energies on mutually beneficial space exploration and discovery and away from war and conflict.

Another processing variation of the image (below) Notice the shape that looks like the letter "F" , located just past the upper right edge of where the "blur scribbles" stop. I couldn't help wondering if this could be the last letter of a word that is otherwise hidden by the blur markings.

Jan,

Thanks for posting that link to the ESA images. I found this amazing one at the site. Possibly we are looking at surface water? It certainly looks fluvial.

xterrester,

Yes, the picture you posted is one the best I think at the moment, or the one with the volcano seen from an oblique angle:

Is there a wind of dust in the volcano?

Now, as far as I can tell, they are already speculating what the dark areas might be on the photo you posted. Some claim that it could be some sort of sediment left by water. We just have to wait.

The photos of the Mars Express are quite different from the pictures taken by NASA's Global Surveyor Orbiter. This is because the Mars Express caries a stereo camera that allows for computer generated oblique angled pictures; however, this yields photos that look rather artificial. The above photo of the volcano clearly demonstrates this. At any rate, these oblique pictures complement the NASA ones nicely. Can't wait to see some more.
