I read recently that he has "revised" his belief that no information can ever come out of a black hole (and lost a bet in the process). But the wording of the report made it look like there is plenty of wiggle room to avoid any hint of the ftl thing. Surprise.
I didn't have time to read the whole thing, and haven't gone back to look for it yet. This is probably what he talked about.
