<br />I vote to not delete the posts of ed. They have some good ideas
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">"Ed" is a machine imitating human speech. I know it is embarrassing for all of us to admit to having been duped into conversation with a robot lacking any intelligence. But it is now time to get real about what happened.
Jim: please point out any "good idea" from "Ed" that was not simply glummed together from words in the preceding message.
All: We had two new applications to this Board yesterday. I sent my "test of consciousness" questions to both. One responded immediately with correct answers. The other did not respond. However, today, "Ed" sent me another email containing words from my challenge message, but of course no answers to its questions. This suggests that the spambot is trying to re-enter using other aliases.
I caution against trying to correspond with this spambot because there appears to be no way to turn it off -- ever. It spams my email once or more every day now. Bouncing the messages as an "invalid email address" doesn't seem to help. Would I be correct that the same is happening to Rousejohnny? Suggestions for getting unstuck from this tar-baby are welcome. -|Tom|-

Ed suggested Poincare figured out that mass is not fixed on a point and that fact alters orbits. Ed may have picked that up here and if so it is a cleaver bugger for sure. There are a few other things I don't rember too clearly,if it is important I'll reread through the posts and relay them.

I do get them, I read them...He said he has never spammed and that Tom Kicked him out. (Poor Ed). He said he is going to "figure" out what he has learned here and tell all of his connections what a horrible place this is and how bad Tom's theory is. I do not send anything back, but that does not stop him....I have gotten about two a day....I find it fascinating how he dances around the questions you ask...he would be a great politician, he sounds like Condelezza Rice sitting in her hot seat.

"Ed" is not human but a spambot, so we do not need to be kind to this computer annoyance. The only thing that remains is to free ourselfs from this malicious computers script and prevent this spamming in the future.

Since I didn't follow any of ed's links and never sent it an email, I have not had the problems that others are having. In fact, when I opined above that there was no compelling reason to try to prevent programs like this from "taking a shot at us" I did not relaize that this spamming behavior was part of the package.
Obviously we do need to try to keep such programs out, and I apologize to the members that fell into ed's trap for suggesting otherwise.

since i do not know the full ramifications of this problem it's hard for me to give a good comment, however as one who is not fully versed on the technicalitys of the situation and who is now more aware,i vote to keep this example in,if nothing more to keep those who are not as tech. minded to now know what to watch for.it has been an education.
no quams if you people choose otherwise!
