), all phenomena unique to GR can be understood as refraction in elysium (the light-carrying medium) rather than as "time dilation" or "curved space-time".
The physical mechanism is then simple. Gravitational force packs elysium (== gravitational potential) denser near any source mass, and denser elysium slows, bends, and redshifts light and all electromagnetic processes. Motion through the elysium results in the moving body encountering more elysium per unit time, which is just like being at rest in denser elysium. So in that sense, motion and gravitational potential have similar physical effects and are "equivalent"
That is probably the only sense in which there is a meaningful equivalence principle operating in reality. -|Tom|-
