Your explanation is consistent with Lorentzian Relativity (LR), which has now replaced Special Relativity (SR) as the better description of nature.
Your explanation does not work for SR because SR requires that the situation is identical for the two twins, so that no experiment can possibly tell which of the two is moving and which is at rest. LR, by contrast, recognizes a local standard of rest, as does your explanation. -|Tom|-
