quote:
I would say that I did not
stipulate the FTL energy measured as being infinite, in my original post.

First I need to make a correction of my first response, it should have read:
"It seems to me that *CLOCKING* would not be the appropriate measurement since the example I just gave seems to render *speed* worthless.
I'm not saying FTL is not possible, nor am I saying it is not measurable, I'm simply saying I don't understand how or what you would use to measure it.
Here is an idea for you Wilson. I don't know how it could be developed, I think it is FTL, much faster, and apprears to be in check with SR. I believe *TELEPATHY* would meet all of your criteria. Why try to reinvent something that already exists, the most powerful thing in the universe, the brain! All you need to do is figure out a way to harvest it. Don't your thoughts, dreams, and imagination fall in line with SR? No time, No Space, No speed limits? Have you ever had an idea *pop* into your mind and say, where did that come from? Was it your brain working at FTL? Also, I don't think it would require any measurments of speed or time.
Anywho... sorry for the flustering but I had to ask the original question, it was driving me nuts.

quote:
and found that duration to be a matter of seconds or less, whereas normally the duration would be many minutes when the two planets were thus separated, any sane observer would conclude that therefore the phenomena were being clocked at significantly greater than light speed.

Wilson, and everyone else, please forgive me for being STUPID here but...Like I said earlier, according to SR, if you travel at light speed Time stops. I don't understand how even a few seconds could pass, traveling ANY distance.

Sorry Mark, but I am the guy who, on these boards, suggested/documented that "0" is NOT nothing so it is in my blood to question, with basis, what others believe to be truths.

Patrick, I am sure that ideas popping into the head "seem" fast but they are slow and measurable physiologically. The best easily observable situations of FTL travel are still observations on the speed of gravity versus light between the sun and the planets.
A system based on gravity could possibly be made to exploit FTL gravitons. SR and GR are hard fast rules ---- for light!
Make a system that doesnt use EM and there you go!

Mark, it seems to me that I saw an article about c^2 being the speed of gravity. It had somehing to do with E=mc2 m=E/c2 and c2=E/m.
Any thoughts out there?
