ESA gives Cydonia a new perspective

I don't understand why heads wouldn't roll. I remember Tom speculating on how they may have altered the data in the height direction, which like the paper says is fair game. But selectively altering, now that's a horse of a different color.

Here's the "other" HRSC 3D ESA face. Available for all to see, but not publicized. Instead the unicorn bump was. I don't really know why.

The paper also said and I agree, that if they did so they should have informed the public. Not to do so was unethical.

Yes that's even worse. But worse still is the complicity of the media. After all, almost anyone could have done a little digging and discovered the truth.

After looking at many MOC MGS versions of the face, this one looks just as the common sense would have expected it to look.

Unfortunately this SPSR paper comes a little too late. Although we exposed Malin’s distortions of the Cydonia Face in this thread (and other venues) long before the Society for Planetary SETI Research ever got around to reporting it, its now been over a year since the ESA “horned” Face was release to the public and the media has long since - lost interest.

Just as he did with the Cat-Box image – Malin has set the stage for his agenda and after the first two days of narrow coverage of ESA’s 3D image, the curtain has closed.

Where you see cause for disappointment (if I read you right) I see cause for optimism and vindication. It doesn’t matter that the vast majority of the people are slow on the uptake. It doesn’t matter that most of the people who are in leadership positions are more interested in immediate gratification and gain than in doing the right thing (for it’s becoming clear now that many of them know; they know). And it doesn’t matter that most scientists are no different than the public in these matters.

What’s more important is that some of us know the truth and will say so—although we have different variations on that truth—even if we’re a small number it doesn’t matter. Though it’s hard to sort it out from the propaganda; the good, correct, and honest stuff is available for all to see, (in books, on the internet, and even once in a great while, on TV), for anyone who is motivated enough to search for it. Given enough time they will. They always have before. That’s how history works. Look at the beautiful pictures of the face and other artificial objects that have been posted here (and in related links, and in print), and the rational accompanying arguments. We are being vindicated.

Well, that settles that, he admits the “peak” was exaggerated. So, there is no horn/peak feature on the forehead after all.Hummm.

Problem is…you won’t see this “correction” covered in any mainstream NEWS programs.
