If we could show that pareidolia could be "synthesized", so to speak, and created out of a variety of random noise, wouldn't that show that one must "doubt all, before you believe anything?" (Descartes). I would think that would stand on its own.

Once again, the pereidolia discussion is mainly about how to tell artificial from natural in a context where both are known to exist. Establishing the first artificial thing is a much stronger burden of proof. But after that, we would be "throwing out the baby with the bathwater" if we didn't consider every plausible candidate as a possible clue to origin and purpose.
Your caution would apply only if we were still looking for first evidence of artificiality (which I guess you still are). -|Tom|-

rd says " What is it about Morty that makes us know it's man made?" If someone said it was made by Martians no one could PROVE differently. We should not become word fundamentalists and believe in the absolute meaning of any WORD. "Proof", "science", "wave", "particle", "energy",
"matter", "basic underlying reality." Things have their own "meanings" which appear to unfold, and return to the dimension from, which they came.

rderosa states:
"True, but that's not the same as saying one can PROVE it was made by Martians." (referring to "Morty the snowman").
That is my point. No one can prove it is made by Martians, and no one can prove it wasn't made by Martians.
i was trying to draw an analogy with the Cydonian "face", or anything for that matter.
