I'd have to side with Emanuel on this one. His challenges are reasonable, mild compared to what one might expect from peer review, and representative of the questions/challenges of a significant fraction of the world. He has continued to be polite, and is doing us all a favor by forcing us to answer these questions because if we can't, how would we know we aren't just fooling ourselves the way much of the world's population does over all manner of topics from religion to medicine.

I don't always have time to come up with all the answers myself, but I still appreciate that the challenges keep coming. If others perceive no benefit in this, just ignore us and carry on with the context discussions, which are no less interesting. For those who are already convinced of artificiality to some degree, I encourage engaging in this "Is anything artificial?" aspect of the discussion to hone your own skills at defending your views, and just possibly spotting an actual hole in the arguments supporting artificiality. (I am assuming, of course, that whichever side is ultimately wrong would want to know that, although I know that not everyone does.)

None of us are infallible beings, but snapping at someone instead of answering his questions just sends that person away convinced that we are self-delusional. If you think a challenge unworthy of your time, just ignore it. But everyone here is entitled to respect and the benefit of any doubt, at least until such time as the Moderators decide that an intervention is warranted. And no one in this discussion is behaving badly enough to approach that threshold. -|Tom|-

The ones when he was all agog about the Twin Warrior Heads? Oh My!

The ones when he was sure that R07 and R12 were great images?

The ones when he instantly found some profiles in a 36MB high res strip? (try it, you'll see what I mean). And then posted them as if they proved something. I still don't know what the relevence of them is, what they prove, disprove.

I suggest we wait a few weeks to see what challenges he settles on, and then address them.

So the question of the presence of a disrupter becomes a sub-plot of this post (or minor theme). It can be conducted in an orderly, civilized fashion like any inquiry.

On the subject of Emanuel’s “reasonable challenges” and actions, I would add:

His exuberance over his discovery (immediately after my Family key was posted) that the “girl” was holding the decapitated head of the “mother” in her hand.

And how about the one where he claimed he didn’t know how to navigate the MSSS site where all the MGS images were, but then he immediately comes up with numerous other “artificial features” and sophisticated keys for them.

What do all of his posts have in common? Although he does not admit it at first, at first glance we think he is suddenly finding more examples of “artificiality” (like a kid discovering a new game). But then we discover that he was really “refuting” artificiality all along.

Clearly, things are not what they seem to be with Emanuel.

Consider the possibility that even with human eyeballs in orbit of Mars and on the surface we might still not be able to resolve the issue. Alien technology (emphasis on alien) might be more difficult to recognize than we imagine. Especially if the only manifestations we can find seem like art that has been eroding for millions of years.

Life is seldom as easy as it could be.
