Road Runner on Mars

Besides the Road Runner here is the first of about six additional avian formations that were originally observed in this same image (V03945003) of the Acidalia Planitia area - back in 2004/2005.

This geoglyph is a full-bodied carving of another eagle set within the large shield formation.


Notice the left facing head with eye and beak, the feathered body with tucked wing and the extended foot and claw.

Here is the third example of the kind of avian geoglyphs discovered in the same NASA image (V03945003) of the northern region of the Cydonia area.


This one is a parrot glyph that is etched in low relief. Notice the crew cut-shaped crest, the round eye and beak. It has a tight wing feature and what appears to be long flowing tail feathers.

The Cydonia Institute was not the only group of researchers to observe the Road Runner geoglyph in northern Cydonia.


John Lear, who flew secret missions for the CIA and was a Lockheed L-1011 Captain known for his revelations about aerial phenomena and the study of UFOs and artifacts on the moon and Mars acknowledges the Road Runner geoglyph way back in 2006.



Lear reports that the Road Runner geoglyph was observed in Keith Laneys 2006 colorized ESA image of Cydonia. The report also speculates that the Road Runner could be ....an arcology.

The first thing you notice is how immense the subject is. Even at a mere 5% magnification it fills the screen.

Note all images are from the JP2 files, and are totally unprocessed by me outside of HiView. I used nothing but HiView's "default contrast stretch".

On numerous occasions, in email correspondence with Professor Levasseur, he suggested that high resolution imagery might not turn out to be very revealing or conclusive, due to the sheer size of these objects and the potential for hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of years erosion under unknown conditions.

I think this particular one represents just such a case. I have no conclusions. As you can see, from out at 5% it looks much the same as it did in earlier imaging, and zooming in does not appear to offer much help as in some of the others we've looked at.

This may in fact be an artifact of immense size. Or maybe not.

One other view, I thought might be interesting. If you note above there appear to be highlights at the claws and joints. I thought it might be worth taking a closer look to see if there is anything that could appear man-made. Again, it's hard to say.
