Following are ranked, clean copies of non-face artifacts. The first in probability of artificiality--far and away--is Wil Faust's mound. Even at medium resolution of the image, it's clear from the shading that we are looking at three flat sides, three sharp pointed, straight edges, identical, or nearly so, curvature of the ground edge, identical, or nearly so, slope, size, and shape of the three sides. It doesn’t take much analysis, or great intelligence, to see that we have here an artificial object.

Only lack of further imaging at higher resolution (to make certain we are not looking at some “trick of light and shadow," or a "computer hacker fake") stands in the way of this object being the most obviously artificial structure (face or non-face) yet found on Mars. Perhaps the Faust mound it not yet a “smoking gun.” But it only lacks further confirmation, coupled with some competent scientific analysis, to be one.

1- Wil Faust Mound

The well known “T”, seen in Tom’s Slide Show, and renamed “T or E” in our paper on the subject, gets ranked # 2 in this informal presentation of clean copies. Compelling reasons were given suggesting its artificiality based on the original SP2 image taken, I believe, in 2002 by the MOC MGS. It was further imaged in 2006 in NASA’s Public Request program as a result of the request I submitted last year. I argued on this message board and in an unpublished paper, that the new imaging further supported the artificiality of this trench, either as a reservoir or as a mining operation.

2- T or E

The third place in my subjective ranking goes to Straight Line. On the positive side is a perfectly straight lined structure imaged at NASA’s highest resolution of ¼ mp. On the negative side is the possibility that we are looking at a fault line, although no other fault line seen in my cursory search even remotely resembles this structure. Still, the conjecture that it is artificial would be falsified by producing a similar example here on earth, at similar resolution or better.

3- Straight Line

This object has several features which suggest that it is the ruins of a large machine—perhaps an airship or spaceship: In center-left of the cropping there appears to be a cavity in the form of a semi-circle. This is modeled as the wrecked “nose” of the ship. One of two “nose cones” is still attached; the other is in the foreground at the bottom of the image. The cylindrical “hull” of the ship is seen in perspective with the “tail end” to the upper right of the image. The hull seems to have a large tear on its right side (our view); a rectangular opening further toward the rear, (also on the right); a raised “bridge” on top of the cylindrical hull; two possible short “wings,” one on each side; and a “tail wing” just above the rectangular opening. The shading of the feature indicates an object with machined (as opposed to irregular or random) surfaces and lines. The front and center parts of the ship have two defined circular lines, which parallel each other and correspond to the cylindrical shape and circular opening or cavity, in shape and shading; while the rear end of the ship appears more rectangular or box shaped, with several lines and gradients of shades that run parallel and perpendicular to each other. Militating against all of these very suggestive features is the mediocre resolution of the raw data image. With one pixel of light being nearly six meters in length, we can’t be that sure of our facts, although they are very suggestive. This feature cries out for further imaging at a resolution at which the detail will be unambiguous.

4- Wrecked Ship



This object appears to be a cylinder. It is found in a high resolution HiRISE image, and the resolution is nominally ½ m/p, but is perhaps less than that. Consequently we cannot see a clear outline of the object but judging from the shading it seems to be a cylindrical object 15-20 meters wide, with both ends shaded more darkly. Both images call for confirming images at higher resolution, which may verify or falsify these objects as artificial structures.
